Chapter 11 : Can't Escape (3)

*****

Regina couldn't bring herself to look back.

Although she hoped not, she immediately knew who the owner of that voice was.

Before she had time to stop him, her mind remembered him and it felt like her breath was taken away.

Eventually, she was caught. Even though she ran away so hard, she couldn't get out of his grasp.

What she wanted was to escape from the shadows and live a simple life, but how come this doesn't work out the way she wanted.

A hand stretched out from behind and hugged her. As she was buried in his cool embrace, not knowing if it was familiar or unfamiliar, his breath fell through her ears.

“I’ve been looking for it for a while.”

Just like the day when she received a marriage proposal from him, she felt a chill as the ground she was standing on disappeared. Regina lost sight of the sword she was holding without realizing it.

It was clearly a tense situation where they had been attacked by the empress dowager men, but it felt as if time had stopped and only the two of them were left in this place.

Her whole body hardened as if it were ice, and she couldn't move. Even a blink of her eyes didn't seem to be her will.

Instinctively, all her attention was focused on him. His presence was too great.

But there was something that broke her tension in a split second.

A dagger thrown by someone flew towards Arsene, who was hugging her, and then bounced away.

"Huck."

Thanks to that, Regina came to her senses and took a deep breath as if she had come out of the frozen space.

Those sent by the empress dowager were confronting Arsene's men. In terms of numbers, empress dowager side had more, but if Arsene people hit with all strength, his side was rather dominant.

The person who first appeared in front of Regina and Cyril was chewing his lips beneath his mask. If this fails again, the plan could be disrupted.

The timing was very bad. It only took a moment. If that were the case, he could have easily subdued her and dragged her away.

'I can't help it!'

Any regrets are in the past. They changed their plans and decided to take Regina with them while they were confused. Regina had to be taken away even if everyone but that one person died.

Memorabilization flew from all directions and the sword swung around to distract the gaze. There was no exception to where she was.

Arsene drew his sword to protect her amidst the hectic commotion. The sword painted in the sunset was reddish.

There was a reason why he, who knew how to use magic, drew his sword.

It was because the magic power was depleted. He was exhausted.

He has used teleportation several times so far, chasing Regina. Even though he was at a level that surpassed that of ordinary humans, there were limits.

In fact, it was surprising that Arsene was standing still. Magic was a force that erode not only magical power but also physical strength. If he were a normal person, he would have fallen to his knees right away.

But Arsene still couldn't relax. He had to kill them all, get Regina out of here safely, and then hold on until he thought he had her perfectly.

Although it was unfortunate, he released her for a moment from his embrace and moved in front of her to block the sword of the person approaching.

Regina looked at the platinum hair swaying in front of her and confirmed that Arsene's appearance was not a dream. He managed to catch up with herself.

A sharp sound instantly surrounded her. A lot of attacks rained down on him, but he managed to block all the sword blades.

Regina came to her senses at the chilling sound of metal clashing and quickly tried to pick up the sword she had dropped. It seemed like she had to either cut them down or run away from here.

But it was then. Cyril, who was pretending to fight with him, knocked down one of the people running towards her and came back here and lifted her up. It was a light movement, like when he easily lifted the little child when they first met.

"-!"

Regina, embarrassed by the sudden body movement, struggled briefly, but he was not shaken. On the contrary, he held on tighter to her as she was about to fall.

There was no hesitation in his actions because he had been waiting for this moment.

The day he received a letter from his grandfather informing him of his consent to the Duke of Greroy's visit, he came up with a very simple plan.

He makes Arsene's men who's chasing Regina and the group circling around them fight each other, and escapes through the gap.

For that purpose, he obtained a ship in the name of Azadi, which was not often used, and set the time. By now, a ship would be waiting for Regina at the port after all the preparations were made. It was only for her.

“Hold on tight.”

But as soon as he stepped on the ground, Arsene found it and turned around. When he saw Cyril embracing Regina, the beautiful eyes became distorted.

“You’re quick to notice.”

Cyril hurriedly moved his feet, but it was not enough to beat Arsene.

Arsene quickly followed him, glaring as if he were going to cut off the hand that was touching Regina body. Since they weren't far away from the beginning, the distance quickly narrowed.

An outstretched hand reached her in an instant to catch her.

Regina, who was holding on to Cyril despite her embarrassment, felt a touch that seemed to grab her at any moment and instinctively shook it off.

"......!"

It was only after she brushed away what was touching her that she realized it was Arsene's hand. After a startled glance, she saw his distorted face..... He looked as if he had been hurt.

No. There was no way he could have been hurt by something like this. How could that Arsene be hurt? That he was only rejected by her?

That's just another act to deceive her. She thought so.

While Arsene hesitated for a moment, Cyril accelerated his running. He picked Regina up and carried her across the harbor, where there were still people out there. With skillful steps, he ran here and there, dodging the crowd.

Regina looked at Arsene, who was looking over Cyril's shoulder. Her black hair flew around and blocked her view.

"........"

It's strange. Now she is escaping from Arsene, who could kill her at any time, and she thought she was caught dead, but she escaped, so she should be glad for sure.

But why does one side of her chest keep getting sore?

She forced her head to turn and look ahead. Just in time, she saw a ship pulling up the anchor.

"Cyril! Come faster!"

One of the sailors gestured with an urgent look on his face. The ship was fully prepared to set sail at any moment.

After running as hard as he could, Cyril put her on board and turned around. The anchor was lifted and the sails were unfolded. As she climbed on, the oars began to row under the deck.

Regina suddenly got on the boat and held on to the railing. Cyril's figure in the harbor slowly moved away.

Is this really the end?

"Cyril!"

“Leave quickly!”

He instructed, paying no heed to her cries. The ship under his command slowly left the land. The sailors were busy moving around.

Arsen, who had paused earlier, quickly ran after them. Cyril ran back to Arsene. He had to be held up until the ship left here completely.

Purple eyes looked coldly at Cyril, who was blocking his path. In the meantime, the ship was moving away.

He thought he had finally gotten it back, but it was very annoying that an insignificant guy was interfering with him.

“Get out of the way.”

"Regina says she doesn't like it, but do you really have to chase after her?"

At those words, the sword swung without warning grazed Cyril's side. Cyril who barely managed to avoid the attack by twisting his body, used the recoil to land a kick.

Instead of Arsene, the leg that kicked in the air stood on the ground again. But as soon as his feet touched the floor, Cyril attacked him again. While he was attacking without stopping, he had already taken out a push dagger and was swinging it.

"Why don't you respect people opinions?"

Arsene crunched his eyebrows at the sentence he interrupted every breath. But he didn't explain kindly, as he did to Isota.

There was no time to waste like this. The ship that Regina was on was still sailing through the sea.

The ship has already gone so far away from the port that it cannot catch up with it unless it is boarded by another small boat.

Teleportation couldn't catch up if she was completely at sea. Because you need to know the coordinates to use magic.

Of course, there was no major problem even if he took the picture roughly somewhere and moved it. That is, if it is land.

If you crash-landed near a city, you could have landed on top of a building or carriage road, but at sea, you could have landed right in the middle of the open ocean.

If he missed her here, he would have to chase her across the sea for several days. However, since he had work to do as the Duke of Greroy,  so this was the only time he could chase her himself.

So, he had to catch her now, no matter what.

Arsene quickly backed away from Cyril, who was clinging to him persistently. Since Cyril's fighting style was close combat, it was necessary to distance himself from him.

Arsene held the handle of the sword in the opposite direction and threw it with all his might like a spear. The sword flew towards Cyril with strong and fast momentum.

A heavy sword that cut the air passed by the sand-colored hair. The tip of the black sword cut through the ground like pudding.

A gap was created for Cyril, who moved to avoid it. Arsene did not miss the opportunity and gathered the last of his magical power.

*****

Regina, holding on to the railing, did not take her eyes off the increasingly smaller port. Where the pink eyes were directed, there were Arsene and Cyril, who were confronting each other.

Their faces had already moved away to the point where they appeared blurred, but she could not move as if she had been nailed there.

Her head was in a mess. Her heart was still beating fast.

An attack from the empress dowager side. Arsene chased after her, and she ran away again. But she felt like it wasn't over yet.

At the end of her gaze, attacks were continuing it was not just a sparring to split the sum, but an attack with the purpose of killing was continuing.

She was nervous. She was worried that it might get injured in the process.

It wasn't just a concern for Cyril's safety.

Realizing what she was thinking, Regina took a stiff breath.

At that time, the sword that Arsene threw like a spear hit Cyril's side.

At first glance, his movements were as smooth as inserting a spoon into pudding. Without any surprise, his appearance disappeared the next moment.

Cyril, who was about to jump out, was also seen here pausing in great panic.

A cool sensation took over her entire body.

She instinctively turned around.

"Regina."

A voice that wrapped around the name and seemed to fall to the floor scratched her eardrums.

As soon as she turned around, he collapsed on her. The scent that lingered on the tip of her nose was something she had smelled.

Arsene used the last magic he had to teleport in front of Regina.

"Don't go."

His hands trembled as he buried his face in the back of her neck and clasped the hem of her clothes.

She couldn't tell if it was from exhaustion or fear.
