Save the Villain [Chapter 29]

*****

"I didn't tell you to peek."

There was a hint of displeasure in the voice I heard.

The boy averted his gaze from me.

He made me step back behind him, perhaps thinking that subduing the wolf was the priority.

A blue thread resembling the dawn sky flowed from the boy's hand.

The thread became a butterfly with blue, translucent wings and fluttered around the boy.

"Be quiet."

The moment the boy's soft voice flowed out, a butterfly fluttered its wings and landed on the bridge of the monster's nose.

As soon as a butterfly landed on the shiny black bridge of his nose, something surprising happened.

Thud-!

The body of a huge wolf collapsed with a loud noise.

It all happened because of a single butterfly.

It was only then that I realized what kind of power the boy was using.

"That's the temple's......"

A unique mana, more sacred than any other magic in the world.

It was the divine power of the goddess Freya.

The boy looked down at the fallen wolf with a calm face.

The wolf looked a bit aggrieved, but I was afraid of the huge monster and took a step back.

I held a carrot awkwardly in my tiny hands.

Originally, I was planning on saving him in a cool way and then throwing the carrot on the floor.

"Wangwang, if something happens at father's castle, it will be a problem."

The boy who was talking to the pure white wolf treated me like I didn't exist.

I didn't say a word, as if I were a breath of air that didn't exist.

He didn't ask if I was okay or if I was hurt, and he didn't even complain.

The boy who passed me by said, stroking the wolf's head.

"Don't look at me like that. I saved you before father roasted you."

"Kkiing.... "

The wolf cried in a timid voice, as if he understood the boy's words.

Unlike the stupid Tweety, he seemed to have empathy.

As I watched the scene alone, I felt something strange.

A giant monster wolf. A boy who rules over the wolf. Blue holy powers coming from the boy's hand....

"Shurei?"

The boy who had been calming the wolf sat up, as if he had somehow heard the small sound that escaped my Iips.

The freckles on his rosy cheeks seemed to disappear, and his dark brown hair gradually became lighter.

The boy's facial features, which had been blurry, became clearer.

Before I knew it, his appearance was the same blond hair and blue eyes I was familiar with.

Is this what it means to use a face as mask?

Unlike his playful smile, the boy's eyes were extremely cold.

It's like watching a parasite devouring rice....

Those were definitely the eyes of a rice eater.

"I never gave you permission to call me by my name."

I'm sorry I didn't recognize you, but did you really have to say it like that?

Shurei looked down at me with eyes as cold as eternal snow.

"To the fake who did not inherit the blood of Visenna."

Shurei Visenna wasn't mocking me.

The boy who had pride in being a Visenna blood relative did not accept me.

Perhaps that was only natural. Shurei Visenna. He, having been adopted into the family, would not be able to acknowledge my existence.

Shurei was a child abandoned by his biological parents because he had monstrous mana.

Divine power was also a type of mana.

Here, the types of mana are broadly classified into three types.

A divine power called the blessing of the goddess Freya. A unique magical power that forms a circular cycle from the heart. A magical power that borrows power from an ancient being, not a god.

It wasn't just about treating divine power dysfunction.

Uncontrolled holy power can destroy the human body and even lead to death.

Young Shurei was called a monster because he could not control his divine powers.

After being abandoned by his biological mother, it was Duke Eustia who saved the boy who had been forced to become a combat slave.

While his biological son, Sharkis, called Eustia "Duke," Shurei called him "Father."

To Shurei, Eustia was everything.

To him, who risked his life to be recognized and become Visenna's adopted son, I was an unacceptable existence.

Thud.

The carrot in my hand fell to the floor.

I put strength into my free hand.

I was angry.

I bit my lip and lowered my head.

It wasn't because I was scared, but because I was angry that tears flowed down my face.

Since coming to Visenna, I have continued training, but I have not been able to subdue a single monster.

"Hikks... kkeuk."

I rubbed my eyes roughly with the back of my hand and held back my tears.

Shurei had already left a long time ago.

The wolf in the backyard just looked up at me with its chin resting on its huge paw.

"What, uh."

The wolf, startled by my crying, waggled its tail.

As if feeling sorry for no reason, he rubbed his large head against the hem of my clothes and acted cute.

It was only then that I realized that this wolf was Wangwang, the monster my new father had been raising.

"Go away."

The only one who stayed by my side was Wangwang, who was used by Shurei.

I opened my eyes when I saw Tweety crawling from afar.

"You didn't come on purpose, did you?"

I stopped crying as I looked at the wyvern looking at me with an embarrassed expression, as if it was sorry.

I knew that Tweety, who was secretly timid, was afraid of Shurei, but I couldn't help but feel disappointed.

When Shurei first came to Visenna, an oblivious wyvern tried to bite him.

He wanted to put Shurei below him in the hierarchy, but the result was the exact opposite.

That day, Tweety almost got roasted for not being able to distinguish the rank.

"........"

"........"

An awkward atmosphere flowed between Wangwang and Tweety, leaving me behind.

Knock, knock.

Eustia, dressed in white, woke up at the sound of a knock on the lab door.

Perhaps because he had been studying for a long time, his eyes were slightly bloodshot as he looked at the flask.

"Father, this is Shurei."

A boy's soft voice was heard beyond the closed door.

Eustia, who had been pressing his puffy eyes with his hand, pulled the string.

Squeak.

Through the gently sliding door, a blond boy in a suit appeared.

He was Shurei, the second son of the Visenna family.

"It's later than I thought."

"Dealing with the western monster......."

Eustia chuckled.

He quickly wiped the smile from his lips and slapped Shurei hard on the cheek.

Whap!

"I wouldn't have ordered you to make an accident. The knight you killed, was the son of a high-ranking nobleman."

"He was the one who killed the knights of the family."

"With the imperial family and the temple pressuring us, you are also causing trouble."

Shurei didn't give in to Eustia's cold rebuke.

He opened his mouth as if he had not been hit in the cheek and was indifferent.

"When did Father become a lynx who's always watching their every move? No matter how strong the enemy, you taught me to tear their necks."

Shurei answered, wiping the blood flowing from the corner of his mouth.

There was no sign of sadness or sorrow.

Rather, it was better to treat him emotionally.

He was more like a master than a parent, but he was the only person who took him in.

- Will you follow me?

- I'll do.... Anything.... Please save me...

In a battlefield filled with the stench of rotting corpses, he remembered how he had grabbed hold of the sleeve of someone he knew was a villain like no other, and insisted on following him.

Shurei wiped his expression and looked up at Eustia.

It was the first time he saw his father, who only did research out of necessity, looking tired.

It's also strange to see someone looking so tired.

The situation felt alien now.

Eustia doesn't feel emotions...... He thought.

"I heard you adopted a daughter."

"It's not for you to interfere, Shurei."

"Does taking in an adopted daughter mean you're planning to abandon me?"

Shurei asked with a face devoid of emotion.

Eustia, who was watching the blue butterfly-like eyes flutter, spoke with a blank expression.

"I've never kicked out anyone who was brought into Visenna. Shurei, you must make Ciel useful through Visenna's power."

"She is a child with no abilities or whatsoever."

Eustia, who was thinking of Ciel, had a strange smile on his lips.

Judging by the fact that she survived the curse, she was no ordinary person.

Maybe more than he expects.

Eustia, having gathered his thoughts, threw away the liquid in the flask.

Crack...

A sharp smell rose along with the sound of metal plates burning.

"The attempt to break the curse failed again today."

What does the curse mean?

Shurei waited silently for an answer.

Eustia pushed aside his monocle and spoke.

"It might be a monster worse than you, Shurei."

Shurei couldn't understand what his father was saying.

She is a monster even worse than him, who was born as a monster and has been despised.....

Eustia looked at Shurei indifferently. Then, taking off his monocle with one hand, he spoke.

"You teach that child."

Just as he taught him.

Eustia's dry eyes fell on the agitated Shurei.
