Save the Villain [Chapter 30]

*****

In the early afternoon, Ciel was chatting with the maid, Barney, in her room.

The magic class with Miray had already ended in this morning.

Barney's eyes turned to the black silk gloves fitted into Ciel's tiny, pure white hands.

"Oh my, what is this? It's pretty."

"Teacher Miray gave it to me as a gift."

"For a grandmother, you have a keen eye!"

Is that a compliment or an insult?

Barney couldn't help but admire the beauty of the black silk gloves given by Miray.

Then, as if the gloves were just tools to get to the point, Barney, coughed a few times and carefully grabbed Ciel's shoulder before opening her mouth.

"Miss Ciel!"

"Why, Barney?"

"Why do your eyes look a little puffy, Miss?"

Ciel glanced in the mirror and saw that her eyes looked like fish-shaped bread.

Looking at Ciel's swollen eyes, Barney  asked several times who had made her cry.

When Ciel didn't answer until the end, she shouted, "What kind of bastard dared to make our young miss cry?"

Barney gritted her teeth as she placed a cold silver spoon on Ciel's eye.

She was getting so worked up that she wouldn't let anyone get away with it if they got caught.

"You are very determined......"

"You're going to finish me off?"

A blond boy with his arms crossed appeared through the crack in the door that had suddenly opened.

It was Shurei, the second son of Visenna.

Barney, who had been grinding her teeth for a while, quickly became quiet.

She rolled her eyes, and stroked Ciel's hair with a pampered touch.

Oh my, why is your hair so messy? She mumbled.

"Get out of the way."

Shurei gave Barney an order as if he was annoyed.

Barney hesitated for a moment, wondering if she could just step aside.

Is it okay to leave the young miss alone? Not with Sharkis, but Shurei....

"I have something to talk with my sister."

Ciel perked up his ears at those words.

Oh my, are you drunk? You don't
even think of me as your younger sibling.

Ciel said with a somewhat pouty face.

"Well I don't have anything to say to you"

The girl with blue hair and a red ribbon looked at Shurei with her arms crossed.

Come get me, If you dare.

After all, she had just installed a magic spell to block enemy invasion using the magic tool Miray had told her about.

The magic power was so weak that it only slightly burned the hem of Barney's skirt, which she had been trying to test the effect on.

"Young master, there is a barrier in the room....."

"Seeing as you're safe, it must not have worked."

Shurei pointed to a mark on the hem of Barney skirt that was about half a centimeter thick.

It would be better to teach magic to a passing stone.

Shurei, who had been chuckling quietly, soon withdrew his smile and walked away
with a blank expression on his face.

'Oh, this arrogant bastard!'

It was when Ciel, whose pride was somehow hurt, was pulling on the ears of the doll that Barney had given her.

Ziiingg

There was a heavy, rumbling sound in the air.

The moment Shurei stopped, a golden circle suddenly formed before his eyes.

A black spear suddenly protruded from the billowing air like mist.

"Master-!"

In an instant, with a loud bang, the room was turned into a mess.

A shadow emerged from the magic circle and opened its mouth to devour Shurei.

An unidentifiable black shadow began to engulf his body.

Shurei glanced down at his body, bound by mana's strings.

The diagonal lines, as black as the night sky of the abyss, were as elaborate as a spider's web catching its prey.

"To use magic prohibited by the temple, You are a candidate for execution."

For a fleeting moment, Shurei's eyes, which had widened in disbelief, narrowed.

"........ "

Ciel was speechless.

It wasn't something Shurei, who always broke the rules, should have said.

*****

I ended up having an accident.

And that was something I committed less than a year after I became an adopted daughter.

Describe how you felt when you unintentionally attacked your new brother who came in with the same adoption.

If someone asked me that, I could answer right away.

'It's ruined. It's really ruined!'

It was not enough to be seen well, so it was made to send Shurei, a high priest, to the goddess's side.

Would it be faster to use forbidden magic and be executed in the temple?

Should I first hang myself from the 6th floor of the tower on the charge of attempting to assassinate the second son of Visenna?

When I was visibly flustered, Barney took my side.

"Hey, young master..... But execution is a bit much. Isn't this just a joke? It's not like our Lady Ciel really tried to kill you."

Barney's words were the trigger.

As soon as she finished speaking, the black strings filled with magical power transformed into giant thorns.

Before I knew it, red roses were in full bloom.

In an instant, a black stream wrapped around Shurei's body.

The flowers that bloomed so beautifully could not be seen in their natural colors.

It was like it was soaked in human blood.

It was the same with the black leaves around the flowers.

'What the heck is that....?'

I looked at Barney with a face like, 'What is that?'

Barney, unable to find a suitable answer, avoided my gaze.

Even Barney, who was trying to take my side, said in a dazed manner, "Th....  This is no joke," and then shut her mouth like a nutcracker.

Even Barney, who had been in Visenna longer than me, didn't seem to notice.

It was when I looked at Shurei with a surprised face.

"Cough.."

"Shurei!"

Shurei, with a black spear stuck in his chest, vomited out a clot of blood.

Even though he was seriously injured, he glared at me with eyes that were filled with life.

"...... You were planning to kill me from the beginning, Yekart's assassin."

It was surprising that Shurei was so easily taken advantage of, but it was frustrating not knowing what 'that thing' was in a situation where he suspected me of being the culprit.

As I tried to approach Shurei, black thorns blocked my way.

The moment the thorn that had pierced his abdomen was pointed at me, I closed my eyes tightly.

"It's dangerous, miss!"

As soon as I heard Barney's shrill scream, something cold touched my ankle.

The thorns had turned into black velvet and were gently catching my ankles.

While I was hesitating at the cool sensation, the thorn monster created a staircase for me to climb up.

"To hide your abilities on purpose....."

Shurei, tied to a black tree branch without moving, was hanging there, looking down at me.

Even when hanging upside down, its beauty did not fade.

Between his blonde hair, which looked like melted gold, a stream of red blood fell to the floor.

My body staggered as I watched blood flow down his pale face.

'.... I feel a little dizzy.'

Hey. Why is Barney's face upside down?

I felt a heavy feeling in the back of my head.

My body was falling to the floor before anyone could stop me.

"Whoa, Miss-!"

"You summoned a monster, and now you
collapse just because you saw me bleeding?"

Shurei's voice, sounding dumbfounded, was heard in my ears, where a dull ringing was heard.

Shurei was my second favorite character in the original novel.

Even though he died at the hands of the male protagonist, Callan, and  he was the second to die in Visenna.

Everyone said this when they saw Shurei.

Beautiful roses have deadly thorns.

In that respect, I liked Shurei even more.

But now, less than a day after meeting Shurei, the list of favorite characters was being torn apart.

What good is a pretty face? What good is mysterious power?

He has the worst personality... !

I once made a comment like this.

'Author.... Please live a long and healthy life and spare our Shurei, Why did you kill Shurei? Did you really have to kill Shurei.....?'

The scene where Shurei died was something I couldn't forget even after the ending.

He held Sharkis in his arms as he died in his stead, and an arrow struck his heart, kiIling him.

Should I collect the seven stones that grant wishes and give them to them, or should I make a donation to the temple of Freya.....?

The older sisters who loved Shurei cried with one heart and one mind.

Did you really have to kill him?

If someone saw me, they would have thought I was crazy, but I really did cry.

'Come to think of it, villains always suffer and die in vain.'

After killing three of Visenna's villains, the heroine and the male protagonist had a happy ending.

Before that, Riena killed Ferze first.

Is this what it feels like when the novel and reality are different?

I was happy to meet the living Shurei, but somehow, every time I encountered Shurei, it felt like it was a mirage and disappeared.

Anyway, I didn't want Shurei to die.

How much more suffering do I have to endure to save Shurei?

'..... Haa, this isn't just hardship. I might have to risk my life.'

Maybe it's because I thought too much. Suddenly, I felt an anemia.

Perhaps it was just a moment of surprise, but Shurei, who had easily defeated the unidentified monster, walked towards me, his entire body drenched in blood.

"It seems that Grand Duke Ferze sent you with the intention of devouring our family....."

The pungent smell of blood made my head spin. My vision continued to blur.

Shurei, freed from the bonds of an unidentified flower, embraced me with amazing reflexes.

'Hey, why is it so dizzy?'

Shurei's bright blue eyes looked down at me through my blurred vision.

My eyelids grew heavier and heavier, and I suddenly lost consciousness.
